OTHER HALF BREWING
[Design Director, Branding, Strategy, Illustration, Packaging, Event & Merch Design]
I was interviewed on CBS This Morning about my work as Design Director for the Brooklyn brewery with a cult following, Other Half.
After completing a few projects for the rapidly growing brand, I took the reins from their design agency. As their Head of Design, I illustrated, designed and saw through to production more than 450 beer labels and hundreds of pieces of branded merch, oversaw all design for the brand's beer fests (Pastrytown and Green City) with thousands of attendees and dozens of breweries from around the world at each event. And I did it while handling project management, print production, account management and creative direction, managing designers and vendors, designing a neon sign or two and more.
PACKAGE DESIGN
Each week the brewery drops several new limited edition beers, and fans line up hundreds deep to snag the coveted 4-packs.
These are some of my favorite labels that I’ve illustrated. Because the beers are for the most part one-offs, and people collect and display them in their homes to show them off to friends, each label design has its own unique personality while maintaining that Other Half visual juju.
And there is a method to the madness: I created a design system for many of the labels. For example, different hop types are assigned different colors. Clever Other Half fans have picked up on the various design systems I’ve implemented.
